Eco-Fashion: Adidas Grün

Kim and I are quite into sustainable living/eco-living these days; trying to practice as much of it in our everyday lives as possible. Incorperating the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) into how we live isn’t always easy, but every bit of it has been worth the while if you ask me. The hardest part sometimes is the frustration of seeing others around you ill-treat the same environment that we are trying so hard to preserve… arrgh! Nevermind, more on that later.

Adidas Grün/Grun LogoSustainable living also involves clothing — wearables and shoes made through environmentally-friendly means. Tons of new labels have sprung up catering for the eco-fashion conscious and I am glad to see that even Adidas has decided to join the cause with their new Grün collection. In German, Grün or Grun translates as ‘Green’. This collection (found under the Originals category) features shoes and apparels made from natural, sustainable resources such as recycled cotton & rubber, hemp, bamboo, jute etc.

I like the classic Superstar 1 Grün the best. Crafted from cotton, hemp, jute and recycled rubber; the sneaker looks great with the natural tones contrasted with red trims/lining and dark brown signature 3-stripes. For the ladies, there’s also a good-looking, sexy tank top made from a mix of soybean and cotton fabric!

If you’re interested, I saw a Grün (pic below) available at the Adidas store in Gurney Plaza a few days back. I think it was from a previous collection as I don’t see it in the current season’s offerings. It is priced at RM 279.00. Hmm… should I get it?

Anyway, you can check out new Spring/Summer 2008 collection here, click on the Grün link after the Flash.
