Just got back from a weekend trip to Singapore. Kim and I crossed the border for a short holiday in conjunction with the Great Singapore (Women’s) Sale. Yes, I added the ‘(Women’s)’ in there because I think the GSS is really for the womenfolk in most parts. They seem to get the best selections and discounts compared to men’s stuff/etc… Darn, no cheap PSP’s for me either
Nevermind-la, other highlights of the trip were of course the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, both of which exceeded my expectations. We were there on Saturday and ran smack into hordes of kids and their parents (some wailing their heads off cos’ mommy and daddy didn’t buy them a toy from the gift store!). Lesson #1 — if you don’t intend to buy, don’t bring your kids into the store! Anyway, here’s the best part, Malaysian tourists get to pay in RM instead of SGD without conversion!

Just show your passports for the special rates. So, instead of SGD 38.50, we only paid RM 38.50 per person. Huge savings right there!!!
We stayed at The Hive, a backpackers’ inn near town, so getting around was easy — just an MRT or bus ride away. I love the public transportation in Singapore, super efficient! Come on Penang, let’s adopt their system, OK? No need build highways and toll booths… instead, build rail systems and efficient bus services for the public.
